I came to know about the LDC driving course through Youtube videos on driving skills. After watching those videos, I have decided to choose LDC authorized diving instructors for my driving course. Based on the reviews, I contacted Derek Kehoe and expressed my interest. Lessons were started with in a week from the day I contacted. Derek scheduled the lessons based on my office hours in the week days and on my convenience in week ends. He had a very good way of communicating things so that I (non-native English speaker) could able understand exactly what I supposed to do during the course. Derek planned course timings in such a way that I got experienced to drive in daylight as well as in night hours. I had lessons when I was 17 through a driving school. I was eager to drive and booked a block of 20 lessons. After 8hrs I felt like I wasnt getting anywhere with the instructor and it was a waste of money, I transferred the rest of my hours to my brother and didn't do anymore as I was put off learning from the instructor.

A few years later I decided it was time again to learn to drive so I had been recommended Derek I got in touch with him and we arranged a lesson. On my first lesson with Derek he gave me so much confidence in myself and in my driving I really enjoyed it and was happy to learn to drive again.

Before Derek I had a previous instructor who I did not feel was pushing me hard enough. I was then recommended Derek by a friend and straight away I could feel myself improving faster. He is patient and always provides constructive criticism where needed. Derek was the second driving instructor I've had and I have to say his level of professionalism and his ability as an instructor far outshines my previous teacher. As a beginner, Derek was very clear in his instructions and provided good visual guidance through the use of diagrams where necessary. He is very attentive to your driving, which in turn makes you feel relaxed and confident. His common use of phrases such as "tyre and tarmac", "smaller the space slower the car", etc., really stick... I still say them to myself when driving alone and I believe it makes me a better driver! He is extremely patient and professional in his manner and more than happy to answer any questions as well as providing reassurance and expert guidance at all stages of the learning process. I never felt that I was testing his patience (though I'm sure I was) which was without a doubt instrumental in me passing my test 1st time. The vast majority of my lessons were spent actually driving, only stopping for brief periods to discuss an aspect of my driving or in preparation for learning something new. He made good use of teaching aids to keep the learning both varied yet specific. Derek also provided me with learning material in order to prepare for the following lesson, again reducing the amount of time, parked up especially compared to friends using other instructors. His choice of car is brilliant for learning to drive in, by far the most suited of any I have driven.

While learning to drive with Derek I found him very patient and he explained everything clearly. He is easy to get along with and you can ask him a question no matter how silly you think it is and you will get an answer. The book he provided me with on my first lesson was very useful as I could see what I would be doing on my next lesson and have an understanding before I got in the car, allowing more time to practice rather than having him explaining the lesson. I liked that each lesson had a clear structure and afterwards I felt confident that I had learned something new and was progressing. In preparation for my test I felt that I covered the routes well and appreciated that Derek would ask me what I wanted to cover and if there was anything I felt unsure about rather than dictating the lessons. I found the LDC system a great of learning to drive. The DVDs and book allowed me to look up lessons in advance so that I had an understanding of what I was doing before each lesson. Derek explained everything at the start of each lesson so that you knew what you were going to be doing. The method of teaching was excellent and I found that I picked up the basic skills very quickly. The first few lessons were planned very well to help build up confidence in driving a car. Derek is always chatty and relaxed which makes you feel more confident and it helps you relax. Before the test everything is explained extremely well and I felt that I understood everything and as a result felt less nervous about sitting the test. When learning with yourself I found it fairly easy to pick up the basic skills of driving at the early stages of learning (ie. My first few lessons). This way of learning meant it was easier to learn the manoeuvres and roads without necessarily thinking too much about driving the car. This was helped by being taught efficiently how to drive the car and the procedures that were involved in different situations on the road. The LDC driving workbook and DVD's that I was provided with helped me to understand each situation I would be faced with on the road and the information I would need to know for both my theory and practical tests. This alone made it important in my success. Together the high quality of teaching and the help given by the LDC course, which covered every single area I needed to know, were the very reasons I managed to pass both tests first time in 22 lessons.

As a mature person taking driving lessons for the first time I was extremely nervous. My LDC instructor Derek is very supportive and reassuring, demonstrating tremendous patience in explaining things to me. He tailors each lesson to suit my needs which helps build my confidence. At first it seemed we were going over the same things each week but I was building up the basic skills we had been practising on the quieter roads. In between lessons I find referring to the LDC Driving Skills Workbook and DVDs most helpful as I don't have access to a car to practice what I learned during my lesson. They are easy to use as they are broken into different sections which are short and demonstrate the driving skills involved in an easy to understand way. Thank you LDC for providing these resources as I find them invaluable - allowing me to revisit what I have learnt on my previous lessons as well as helping prepare me for my next lesson.

Before sitting any driving lessons I knew nothing about cars and was understandably apprehensive. However, LDC driving school use a systematic approach which makes it easy to learn the very basics from which to build upon. I would recommend my instructor, Derek, to anyone locally wishing to learn to drive as he displayed great patience, friendliness and help throughout. It was easy to make progress as there were clear and constructive instructions of improvements that could be made. There is also a set of DVDs and a LDC manual which makes learning easier as you can go over what you have learned prior to lessons or use them to focus on any areas you are unsure.

I found Derek through the LDC website and emailed him looking for information on taking lessons. I received a swift reply and started my lessons soon after. I had no previous driving experience however with Derek's instruction and the useful DVD's provided I soon had a grasp of it. Derek's lesson plans were well structured and I soon felt confident on the road. When practicing manoeuvres Derek was very patient and gave plenty of encouragement and was always able to look for positives even when the manoeuvre wasn't fully successful. This really helped to build my confidence in preparation for my test and made sure I had no fears when preparing to sit my test. I passed my test first time and could not recommend Derek highly enough.
